Adapt mobile game updates to device differences

Plan bundles, asset manifests and recovery across mobile devices, languages and network conditions.

Overview

Updates are affected by device storage, app versions and network changes. Clients need to know what to download and how to continue after interruption.

This is an architectural planning example, not a customer case study, a delivered project or a promise of performance gains.

01

Partition assets by client needs

Separate base bundles, language packs, high-resolution assets and event content with client-version compatibility. Do not default every device to the largest asset set.

02

Keep bundles compatible

Validate hashes, manifest versions and dependencies together. Complete required assets before entering dependent scenes to avoid incomplete updates causing missing content or startup failure.

03

Control concurrency and retries on weak networks

Set deliberate concurrency, retry spacing and resume behavior to avoid repeated failures amplifying traffic. Validate HTTP settings together with the client implementation.

04

Release and withdraw event assets independently

Give timed content its own paths and rollback process. Test older clients, low storage, network changes and interruptions before expanding the rollout.
