Plan delivery for game releases

Separate installers, patches and asset manifests from real-time application connections, and prepare for peaks and rollback.

Overview

Downloads and real-time gameplay have different network needs. This scenario covers installations, updates and static assets, not a claim that faster downloads improve gameplay latency.

This is an architectural planning example, not a customer case study, a delivered project or a promise of performance gains.

01

Organize assets by release

Create clear paths for client versions, platforms and bundles. Align manifests and package versions so staged releases do not deliver mixed assets.

02

Prepare for release peaks

Plan tests around expected users, package sizes and release times. Use separate policies for reusable files and account, purchase or matchmaking endpoints; not all traffic is an asset download.

03

Validate from player regions

Check completion rates, errors and origin behavior from core player regions and providers. A single speed test does not represent the whole player base; retain successful and failed samples.

04

Keep recovery paths for older clients

Account for older clients still online during a rollout. Define retention, manifest withdrawal and incident contacts so an update failure does not leave clients unable to start.
