Video transcription, captions and localization

Plan transcription, caption review and translation with attention to terminology, timing, privacy and player delivery.

Overview

Captions help viewers in different listening environments and make learning content easier to search. Automated transcription can produce a draft; publication quality still depends on review and timing checks.

This page describes an integration workflow. It does not announce a proprietary AI transcription engine, a fixed language count or an accuracy guarantee. Services, language coverage and charges require confirmation.

01

Start with audio quality rather than translation

Noise, overlapping speakers and specialist vocabulary affect draft quality. Confirm the source and language before preparing captions.

Prepare the source

Check audio tracks, speakers and necessary processing permissions, and prefer clear source audio.

Review the text

Verify names, product terms, numbers and technical abbreviations before publishing machine-generated text.

Adjust timing

Review cue boundaries, reading speed and sentence breaks so captions stay synchronized.

02

Keep terminology consistent across languages

Sentence-by-sentence translation can lose context. Maintain a glossary for brand, product and industry terms, and review each language during actual playback.

  • Distinguish original-language captions, translations and transcripts in the interface.
  • Check character coverage, punctuation, wrapping and language-specific directionality.
  • Update caption timing and release versions after editing the media.
03

Manage captions as published content

Caption files also need versioning, permissions and cache policy. Internal meetings or personal information should not become public simply because text is easy to index.

Publishing and withdrawal

Bind captions to a media version and check public addresses and caches when withdrawing content.

Player verification

Test language defaults, caption controls, mobile overlap and fullscreen presentation.

Content reuse

After authorization and review, use transcripts for chapter summaries, internal search or learning material.

Implementation & checks

  1. 01

    Choose realistic samples

Include different speakers, noise levels and terminology to estimate actual review effort.

  2. 02

    Define editorial ownership

Assign transcription, translation and publication reviewers and retain revision records.

  3. 03

    Verify the release

Play complete samples on target devices and check synchronization, readability and permissions.

Frequently asked questions

Names, numbers, commitments and specialist subjects particularly need review. Recognition can omit words, misidentify terms or confuse speakers.

No. Separate captions are easier to switch and revise. Burned-in captions suit some distribution needs but generally require media regeneration to change.
